This post is dedicated to those who use their body as a tool for work and transformation. SkyDancer is the name of our great friend Carolina Fonseca, who enchants the world with her dance and choreographies.
Dancer and choreographer, her life is made of research, teaching and creating. From the ancient Dance knowledge from Europe and Asia, to contemporary Dance approaches, Carolina Fonseca is a wonderful example of fusing techniques to create a language called dance.
Since 2000 she has been devoted to teaching, highlighting Duende dance training projects in Milan, Bologna, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Ljubljana, Berlin, Ireland, Lisbon and Porto, among others. She lived in Brussels between 2005 and 2008, where she dedicated herself to the study and teaching of the Duende dance as an assistant of Myriam Szabo. She completed her training with the Ukrainian Pétia Iourtchenko, in the field of Russian and Central European gypsy dances, made several trainings in India, the region of Rajasthan in Transylvania, Budapest and Turkey, where she contacted directly with gypsy millennial families and great masters . Trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance with renowned creators, she also worked with the great Japanese master Masato Matsuura in “Teatro Nô”.
You can find her for example, in the gypsy dances, performing as a dancer and choreographer with: Fanfare Ciocarlia, Taraf de Haidouks and Roby Lacatos (CCB), or as a solo dancer in the play “Les Forberies de Scapin” by Molière, at the Theater Les Martyr (Belgium / Brussels – 2007), or even interpretation a one woman performance as ‘’A poet in New York’’ with Theater Lab (New York).
We are so happy to know our Pickpocket® work is traveling with her, and has become a faithful travel companion. Allium and SkyDancer have travelled together to Dharmasa/ India, Kashmir & Tibet, Milano, Mexico, New York, Brussels… and so on…
